The Muslim Community Association (MCA) expresses deep concerns of ongoing brutal crackdown of peaceful student protests in Bangladesh. Security forces have killed more than 200 innocent people and injured thousands. Despite the peaceful nature of the protests, the Bangladesh government has issued a shoot to kill policy; it has also imposed curfews and arrested hundreds.

The government must respect people’s right to protest, and it has to uphold human rights. Meeting the legitimate demands of the students is the only way forward.

Due to the government’s shut down of communications systems, many of the Bangladeshi diaspora in the UK are unable to communicate with loved ones in Bangladesh, thus causing anguish and concern.

We call on Prime Minister Kier Starmer to press the Bangladesh government to stop the repression and killing of students protestors. The rule of law must apply and people afforded their human rights and freedom of expression.  [End]

এমসিএ বাংলাদেশে শান্তিপূর্ণ ছাত্র বিক্ষোভের নৃশংস দমন নিয়ে গভীর উদ্বেগ প্রকাশ করেছে

মুসলিম কমিউনিটি অ্যাসোসিয়েশন (MCA) বাংলাদেশে শান্তিপূর্ণ ছাত্র বিক্ষোভের চলমান নৃশংস দমন-নিপীড়নের জন্য গভীর উদ্বেগ প্রকাশ করেছে। নিরাপত্তা বাহিনী ২০০ এর বেশি নিরীহ মানুষকে হত্যা করেছে এবং হাজার হাজার কে আহত করেছে। বিক্ষোভোর শান্তিপূর্ণ প্রকৃতি সত্ত্বেও, বাংলাদেশ সরকার একটি শুট টু কিল নীতি জারি,কারফিউ আরোপ এবং শতাধিক গ্রেপ্তার করেছে।

সরকারকে অবশ্যই জনগণের প্রতিবাদ করার অধিকারকে সম্মান করতে হবে এবং মানবাধিকার সমুন্নত রাখতে হবে। শিক্ষার্থীদের ন্যায্য দাবি পূরণই একমাত্র পথ।

সরকারের যোগাযোগ ব্যবস্থা বন্ধ করার কারণে, যুক্তরাজ্যে প্রবাসী বাংলাদেশিদের অনেকেই দেশে প্রিয়জনদের সাথে যোগাযোগ করতে পারছেন না, এটি যন্ত্রণা ও উদ্বেগের কারণ।

আমরা ব্রিটিশ প্রধানমন্ত্রী কিয়ের স্টারমারকে ছাত্র বিক্ষোভকারীদের দমন ও হত্যা বন্ধ করতে বাংলাদেশ সরকারকে চাপ দেওয়ার আহ্বান জানাই। আইনের শাসন অবশ্যই প্রতিষ্ঠা করতে হবে এবং জনগণ কে তাদের মানবাধিকার ও মত প্রকাশের স্বাধীনতা প্রদান করবে।
